Golf club Linz St.Florian

A parkland course in a class of its own

Golf in the middle of the Tyllisburg Castle Park

One of the most traditional golf clubs in Austria is the 1960-founded Golf-Club Linz-St. Florian, who has been living in the shadow of the venerable Baroque palace Tillysburg since 1974. The 18-hole system blends harmoniously into the rolling hills of the foothills of the Alps and convinces with sporty, sophisticated golf architecture.
After the final renovation in 1999, the championship course presents itself at the highest international level. In the midst of an intact rural cultural landscape, the extensive complex extends with well-tended roughs, fairways and greens, with ancient trees and a wonderful view. While the area around the castle is relatively flat and characterized by fields, the castle itself is hidden on a hill in a park. The access - or rather the driveway - to the castle is befitting of an imposing avenue.

Characteristics of the golf course

The Linz St. Florian golf course is a wonderful place. Very well-kept, varied fairways with challenging greens. The old trees and the many bunkers throughout the area make the course one of my top five golf courses in Austria. Playing here is a sporty treat.

Hole 1 - 9

Every hole is described very well in detail on the homepage of the Linz St. Florian Golf Club and you can view every hole by flying over it. I am just sharing some of my experiences with you here. Hole 1 a par 5 is a wonderful opening hole. Long hitters can safely reach the green with two strokes. Hole 2 a short par 5, if you pass the tree in the middle of the fairway, the green is no problem with two strokes. A par 3 follows before it continues with a par 5 that is well worth seeing. The most difficult hole on the course impresses with the fairway, which with its natural stones on the right edge is a visual highlight. Play a short par 6 tactically at hole 4, it's worth it. Hole 7 is a par 3 that is defended with water. Another par 5 on hole 8. Play your tee shot along the birch trees on the right. The green is very narrow and requires an exact approximation. Hole 9 is a short par 4 that tempts you to attack. Play it defensively, the bunker landscape in front of the green is just waiting for your ball.

Hole 10 - 18

Hole 10 a short par 4, in front of the green on the right is a pond and on the left a large bunker. The 11 a short par 3. Hole 12 another par 5. For me personally the most difficult hole on the course. A precise tee shot is important to avoid the water left and right. even the narrow green is extremely heavy. On hole 13 Don't be tempted to cut too far on the left. Along the hole and the par should fit. Hole 14 a par 3 uphill. Here is the key to choosing the right club. The green also has several waves. A great hole is the 15, a long par 4 with a pond in the landing zone. The way to the green is very narrow. Hole 16 another par 3 with island green. Pay attention to the flag position here! Hole 17 a par 4, here the green is defended by several bunkers. The final hole the 18 is again a real challenge. Keep left from tee, right is OUT! The second shot also requires a lot of precision in order not to land in one of the bunkers.

Guest comment from June 15

We recommend the tender boiled beef with horseradish and apple horseradish as well as roasted potatoes. Then there are the baked chicken fillets on potato and bird salad. A cardinal slice for dessert
