Golfclub Zell am See Kaprun

Leading golf course with 36 holes

Between mountains and lake

Welcome to the Zell am See -Kaprun-Saalbach Golf Club

The Zell am See Kaprun Saalbach Golf Club is one of the most renowned golf courses in Austria and is known for its idyllic location in the midst of the impressive mountains of the Hohe Tauern.

The proximity to Zell am See, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and Lake Zell makes the club ideal for a combination of golf and nature holidays.
A visit to the Zell am See Golf Club not only offers first-class golfing pleasure, but also a unique nature experience in one of the most beautiful regions in Austria.

History of the Zell am See Kaprun Saalbach Golf Club

Created in 1983 Donald harradine the first 18 holes of the course in Zell am See-Kaprun, the Englishman counted alongside his German colleague Bernhard von Limburger one of the most important golf course planners in Europe. Only five years later, the course was expanded to 27 holes. The final expansion of the current 'Kitzsteinhorn' course to 18 holes was completed in 1993 according to the plans of the engineer Hermann Schauer, a member of the golf club completed. This increased the total offering to 36 holes.

The course record on the original course 'Schmittenhöhe' has been held by the German Bernhard Longer with 66 strokes. On this course (par 72), the men play a total of 6.218 meters, while the women have to cover about 750 meters less. On the 'Kitzsteinhorn' (par 73), the white ball must be moved a total of 6.146 meters (women 5.421 meters) in as few strokes as possible.

The Kitzsteinhorn course

The Kitzsteinhorn course is only slightly shorter than the Schmittenhöhe course right next to it. The two golf courses between Zell am See and Kaprun are a good example of how two courses so close to each other can be so different and yet each offers the greatest golfing enjoyment in its own way.

The flat fairways and generously sized greens of the Kitzsteinhorn course inspire joy and confidence - but players who stray too far from these will find themselves surrounded by uncompromising obstacles such as roughs, trees and water. Golfers of all abilities will enjoy this golf course near Kaprun and will find many reasons to play the Kitzsteinhorn course again and again.

The Schmittenhöhe course

The Schmittenhöhe championship course is something unique for the discerning golfer. Its 18 holes feature many risk and reward shots. Even the first hole can be the deciding factor for the "all or nothing" of your round. So be careful if you go all out too early.

Well-placed tee shots are key for your approach shots to the elevated greens. With an accurate, well-placed long drive, experienced golfers can dare to attack the par 5s with the second shot, but these approach shots are cramped and well guarded by bunkers and water.
